Msgr. Buckley 4th Degree Assembly 627

New Hampshire's Capital Sir Knights

Monsignor Buckley

4th Degree Assembly #0627

Faithful Navigator's Corner

SK, Rudy Viens

Suncook Council #112

March 2010

Worthy Sir Knights,

Now that our Summer break is over and we have held our first meeting last night, I would like to thank our  17 Brother Knights who were in attendance. I promise you that future meetings won't be as lengthly as our first meeting was.

First of all, let me thank you all for having the confidence in me to lead our 4th Degree Assembly. I have big shoes to fill as our Immediate FFN, SK, Glenn Camley, did a wonderful job leading you in these past two years.

The  first order of business that was bestowed upon me was appointing a NEW Color Corp Commander. I had a very hard time selecting the Commander for this year as the names of four fellow Sir Knights were submitted and all were very highly qualified for the position. It basically came down to who I thought would lead our fellow Sir Knights in a more positive direction and at the same time, be able to motivate and involve others with the energy and enthusiasm that this posuition so deserves. With this said, I have decided to appoint Former Faithful Navigator, Paul Vien. Paul has held various positions both on the State and Council levels. I hope that you will all stand beside him and contribute to making this Assembly a strength of Patriotism. As well, as we strive to be known throughout the State as the # 1 Assembly within the District of New Hampshire.

The winner of the Assembly TV Raffle was a gentleman by the name of Philip Mollitor and he resides in Gaysville, VT. General Agent, Matt Poulin sold him the winning ticket. Matt just happening to be playing in a golf tournament that day in VT with him. Congratulations Philip for having the winning  ticket and we all hope that you have many years of enjoyment from watching the tv. The assembly made a profit of $819.80 on this fund raiser.

Some of the things that were discussed at the meeting were:

What to do with the CD that we had to close back in July ? We decided as a group to place that money in a interest bearing checking account until things start to look better on rates of return ... filing our return with the IRS for last year's taxes and ordering lapel name badges for the Officers.

Immediate Former Faithful Navigator, Glenn Camley has requested that all 4th Degree members attend the Annual Concord Council #112 Dinner Banquet on Monday, September 22nd at St. Peters Parish Center. Gathering begins at 6:30 PM with dinner to be served at 7:00 PM. Awards will be presented to fellow Sir Knights for their over due honors and hard work within the Assembly for this past fraternal year. As it must be many, many years since the Assembly has held or participated in its own Awards Social, this event will be something you won't want to miss.

We will also be ensuring that whenever we hold special events at any of the Church Parishes and Parish Center's, that a good will offering will be presented to the hosting Parish in the sum of $100. This does not Include Assembly Meetings.

The Assembly also will be paying for the Faithful Navigator and Spouse (meal only) to attend the State Ball. This proposal was given by SK, Norman St.Hilaire, FFN and seconded by SK, Paul Vien, FFN. In this way, our Assembly will have representation at this event.

You have also authorized purchasing a full page add for $60 in the State Ball Directory.

District Master SK, Edward Kennedy, PSD was very impressed with how the Economical 4th Degree Exemplification went in July and would be interested in the Assembly hosting this event again in the future. On that same note District Master Edward Kennedy and his staff will be holding another 4th Degree Exemplification on November 15, 2008 at St. Berndards Church / St. Joseph School. The location is 173 Main St. Keene NH. The dead line to reserve a spot is November 8, 2008. The cost for Candidates is $70 and for spectators that are 4th degree members is $30 and their wives or girlfriends are $25.

My fellow Sir Knights, I will close this letter by again thanking you for electing me to serve you as your Faithfull Navigator. I will serve you with honor!

Vivat Jesus,

Keith,

Pledge of Allegiance:

"I pledge allegiance

to the flag of

the United States of America

and to the republic for which it stands:

one nation under God,

indivisible, with liberty

and justice for all."

Patriotism and Fraternalism:

Patriotism and Fraternalism

Patriotism has been one of the four principles of the Knights of Columbus since the Fourth Degree was established in 1900, with a ceremony on George Washington’s birthday, February 22nd.

(Patriotism and Fraternalism, by Christopher Kauffman, is a history of the Fourth Degree published in 2001.) Each of the major jurisdictions of the Order has its own version of the Fourth Degree Ceremony, with each focusing on the distinctive history of Catholicism in that particular country.
